STAFF VACANCIES

Coping with Cancer is an established local charity which provides practical and emotional support to individuals diagnosed with cancer, their families and carers across Leicestershire and Rutland. We are now looking to recruit the following vacancies to join our team:-

Finance Officer

Coping with Cancer are seeking a part time Finance Officer working a minimum of 22.5 hours to be worked flexibly over 5 days (Full time salary £19,500 @ 37.5 hours p/w - pro rata for part time hours)

Job requirements - An experienced and dedicated Finance Officer with good attention to detail to support the Charity in delivery of efficient financial management.

You will make sure that payments, receipts and any other accounting entries connected with the Charity are correctly calculated, authorised and recorded. You will be responsible for processing payroll and payments efficiently, accurately and in a timely fashion; ensuring that the knowledge gained is used to improve the Charity’s financial position where possible. You will also act in the best interests of the Charity in continuously reviewing spend and considering best value alternative suppliers. In addition, you will be responsible for providing appropriate required financial information to our auditors in readiness of the submission of annual accounting for Companies House and annual returns for the Charity Commission as well as gathering statistical data on a quarterly basis. You will also present 6 weekly accounts of cash flow, salaries and expenditure to the Board of Trustees on a 6 weekly basis where your attendance may be required. These meetings may be in the evenings so some flexibility is required.

Applicants must have:

  • Solid experience of work in a similar role, including accounting reconciliations

  • Experience of using a computer-based accounting system

  • Previous experience of payroll systems (Sage experience essential)

  • Good IT skills and proficient in excel and spreadsheets.

  • An organised and methodical approach to work with excellent attention to detail

  • The ability to follow procedures accurately and complete work to deadline

  • The ability to work flexibly as a team member

 

Experience of dealing with Charity accounts is desirable.

Fundraiser

Coping with Cancer are seeking a full time Fundraiser working a 37.5 hour week with a salary of between £22,000 up to £24,000 dependent on experience.

Part time applicants will be considered (minimum of 22.5 hours per week, over 5 days, salary to be pro rata of the FTE)

 

In addition the charity may operate a milestone bonus scheme which will be discussed at interview.

Job requirements - An experienced and dedicated Fundraiser who can work with us to develop our fundraising strategy to secure additional funding and generate income, including applying for bids and grants.

Applicants should have experience of fundraising with corporate partnerships and the local community, have previous event planning experience and the ability to network with a wide variety of people. You should also be able to work to fundraising targets, show initiative and work to tight deadlines. It will be a requirement of this role to work occasional weekends and evenings.

Applicants must have:

  • Solid experience of work in a similar fundraising role.

  • Experience of completing grant / funding applications

  • Good communication and presentation skills to forge relationships with prospective funders

  • Previous experience of event organisation and management

  • Good IT skills and proficient in excel and spreadsheets.

  • An organised and methodical approach to work with excellent attention to detail

  • Good business acumen and the ability to use their initiative

  • The ability to follow procedures accurately and complete work to deadline

  • The ability to work flexibly as a team member which is likely to involve weekends and evenings

 

*A milestone bonus scheme may operate for this role, dependent on meeting the requirements of the role including achieving fundraising targets. This will be discussed at interview.
