We rely on volunteers to deliver many of our services and to help us raise funds. Without our team of dedicated volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to provide the support we do to local people affected by cancer.
Some of our volunteers work several hours a week and others only help out occasionally. The majority of support is needed during the week, but we also need volunteers to help us with events and fundraising in the evenings and at weekends.
All of our volunteers receive training and regular support. We also cover any out of pocket expenses.

Our clients come from all walks of life, and our volunteers the same. All you need is a little time and the willingness (and, for our counselling and complementary therapy roles, appropriate qualifications). Every volunteer has to undergo a satisfactory criminal record check and references. We also ask that if you have had a cancer diagnosis yourself, you wait for a year after finishing your treatment before volunteering for us, or if you have been bereaved through cancer, we ask that you also wait a year before volunteering for us.
There are a variety of volunteering roles at Coping with Cancer, whether you are a counsellor or qualified complementary therapist, want to give your time as a befriender, group supporter or driver, or help raise funds or man our reception. If you can spare a few hours to support local people affected by cancer, we’d love to hear from you.
