Practical and emotional support for anyone affected by cancer

Local fundraising groups

Local Fundraising Groups JPEG.jpg Volunteer to be part of a fundraising group in your local area and help raise vital funds for Coping with Cancer to support local people affected by cancer!
We’re looking for people to organise local fundraising groups to meet regularly, organise and support fundraising initiatives in their local area. It’s a great way to meet new people, get involved and have fun.

Our fundraising team will provide support and expert advice so you have everything you need to carry out your fundraising activities and make them a success.

How do I get involved?

You’ll need a minimum of two other people to get a new group off the ground - friends, family or colleagues. Each group will need a Chair, to lead and guide the group, plus a nominated person to look after the money and keep simple records, but the number of members in your group can be as big or small as you like. If there’s an existing group in your area, we can put you in touch with them.

You don’t need any previous experience, just enthusiasm and the willingness to raise money for and awareness of Coping with Cancer’s work in your local area.

What do local fundraising groups do?

As a local fundraising group, we are asking you to raise money and awareness in your local area, by:

  • Organising fundraising events in your local area. These could be anything from pub quizzes to black tie balls, seasonal fayres to sponsored walks!
  • Placing collection cans in local shops and businesses and ensuring they are emptied regularly
  • Organising local store and street collections, for example at supermarkets or festivals

How much time will it take?

You can choose how many meetings and events to organise, so the time commitment is up to you.

Support for you

We’ll provide lots of support for your group to help you on your way, from help with marketing and promoting your activities, advice and supporting on organising successful events and tips for running your group.
