Practical and emotional support for anyone affected by cancer

Fundraising Inspiration

Thanks for thinking about raising money for Coping with Cancer! The only limit to what you can do to raise funds and make a difference is your imagination - to get you started, we've put together some of our favourite ideas, and there are plenty of downloadable guides and materials to get you on your way.

Whatever fundraising activity you're planning, these are our handy hints to get you started:

  • What will you do? Decide what you want to do to raise funds, and then think about how you'll raise them - sponsorship, ticket sales, collecting donations?
  • Location, location, location: Pick the perfect venue for your event. Think about how many people you want to come along and how easy it is to get there.
  • Get some help! Make a list of all the people you think can help you, and get them involved early.
  • Keep on track: Make a list of all the jobs that need doing and by when. Each week, go back and tick off what you've done.
  • Budget: If your event involves any costs, work out a simple budget and think about what you might be able to get for free!
  • Keep it safe and legal: Understand the laws and regulations that relate to your event. There's more about this in our Fundraising Guide.
  • Shout About It! Make sure everyone knows about your event. Get in touch with us for posters, sponsorship forms and more...

Hold a coffee morning

A coffee morning is a fun and easy way to raise funds. All you need is some friends, family or colleagues, coffee and plenty of cakes. You can find lots of helpful materials for organising a coffee morning on our BIG Coffee Break pages - our own BIG Coffee Break takes place in April, but you can organise yours whenever you like!

Organise a quiz night

A quiz night is always a popular fundraiser. Download our handy guide for organising a quiz night to help you along the way. We've also got a quiz night poster to help you promote your event.

Start a bonus ball lottery

A bonus ball lottery is an easy way to raise money in the office (or anywhere else!). You only need a few people willing to play for £1 a time, with the money being split between the winner and Coping with Cancer. If you're in a bigger office, and get 49 people playing each week, then every week someone will win £25, and in a year you'll raise over £1200 for Coping with Cancer. Download our handy guide and poster below to get you started.
