Practical and emotional support for anyone affected by cancer

Counselling

When you’re affected by cancer, we know it is important to find ways of helping with your emotional needs. Counselling is one way you can get support with this, and for many people it can be extremely valuable.

CounsellingCounselling provides an opportunity to explore anything that concerns or is troubling you with an independent and qualified counsellor. It is not about giving advice, but is intended to help you become more aware of your own resources, explore different options, and make choices that are right for you.

Counsellors are trained to listen attentively. Their job is to offer the concentrated time and impartial point of view that family and friends often cannot or do not wish to give. Counselling sessions are private and confidential – all our counsellors observe Coping with Cancer’s confidentiality policy, a copy of which is available on request. Counselling sessions are arranged by appointment and usually take place at Helen Webb House, either during the day or in the evening.

Our counselling service is free of charge, however if you feel that you have benefitted from attending and you are able to make a donation, we are always grateful for your support which ensures we can keep providing this service to local people affected by cancer. Please ask your counsellor or at reception for more details.
