BIG Coffee Break is back for 2012!
Last year we ran our ‘BIG Coffee Break’ campaign in aid of Coping with Cancer for the first time, and coffee mornings were held across Leicestershire and Rutland. This year, we want to make BIG Coffee Break bigger and better, and we hope that more people will choose to hold a BIG Coffee Break at home, at work or in their local community.
Taking part is easy. We’re asking local people, businesses and organisations across Leicestershire and Rutland to organise a coffee morning, where donations on the day are made to Coping with Cancer. You could just hold a simple coffee morning at home, get together with colleagues at work, or run a bigger event in the community. It’s up to you! We're holding our BIG Coffee Break on Friday 20th April 2012, but you can choose whatever date works for you!
To get started, head over to our BIG Coffee Break downloads page, where you can get your handy BIG Coffee Break Organiser's Guide, as well as posters and invitations to promote your event and lots of other helpful materials.
Join in! Taking part is easy...
At home...
Organise a BIG Coffee Break at home for friends and family. Make the event special with some homemade cakes, and ask your guests to make a donation to Coping with Cancer.
At work...
Organise a BIG Coffee Break in the office or staff canteen, selling coffee and cakes for Coping with Cancer. You could top up your fundraising total with a raffle, tombola or bring-and-buy sale.
In the community...
Organise a BIG Coffee Break for the local community in your community centre or village hall. Make it a can’t-miss event with extra stalls, plenty of homemade cakes and some games!
Your business...
Show your customers how you support the local community with a BIG Coffee Break in your shop, salon, bar or restaurant! Invite people in for a coffee, and you could donate a percentage from the sales of certain products, or collect donations from customers on the day.
Schools, scouts and guides...
The 1st South Wigston Guides organised their event in the evening. Tracey Ball, group leader said "The girls did really well. They organised a homemade cake each to sell, sold teas and coffees, organised a raffle and put on a number of stalls including ‘name the teddy’ and a ‘lucky dip’. The girls chose their stall and invited parents and friends, and the event was really well supported." Thanks to their hard work, the group raised over £140.
Staff canteen...
Alison Nash works for Central Trains and is based at Leicester Station. She organised a series of three BIG Coffee Breaks for her colleagues at the station, raising over £300. Alison said "There’s no canteen for the staff here at Leicester, so as well as coffees and cakes I organised some sausage cobs – these went down really well, selling out first each morning!"
